From Lee Grady / News from The Mordecai Project! / July 3, 2025

Dear Friends:

In Zanzibar, an island off the coast of Tanzania, many women are trapped in prostitution—and some have been tricked into the practice by sex-traffickers. It is a diabolical industry in Zanzibar, and many women end up pregnant and destitute after being used and thrown away. But now, the Lord is birthing a solution to this horrific problem!

In the photo below you can see leaders of a local church from Zanzibar City standing on the land we will use to build a residential shelter and counseling center. The land was dedicated just a few weeks ago, and now we are building the wall around the property. We hope to finalize construction before the end of 2025. Please pray with us for this!

Below you can see Passy Mutabazi, a single mother in Masindi, Uganda, who has been attending our baking classes at our newly constructed women’s center. She learned how to start her own business and make juices, coffee and snacks. She will graduate from our school in just a few days! But she has already been able to make a profit so that she can care for her two sons. This is what The Mordecai Project is all about—empowering women so they can make a living wage. All of the women in our center in Masindi are also being discipled in their faith.

The young woman below, Jesca, lives in Katwe, Uganda, a remote village in the western region of the country. Her parents separated because of domestic violence, and then she ended up pregnant at an early age. She suffered as a young mother, but now she is a student in our tailoring and soap-making classes in Katwe. Now she has her own business, and she makes laundry bar soap that she sells in her own shop. Right now she has been able to support herself. Thank you for making this success story possible with your donation!

Below you can see that the progress continues on our women’s empowerment center in Pakistan. We are only weeks away from completion, but we need another $5,000 to finish the interior. Our monthly outreaches there continue—we are providing a message of hope from the gospel, along with bags of groceries for each woman, along with clothing for their children. When the building is finished, we will begin classes on tailoring and handbag manufacturing.

My friend Peter Sam, from Singapore, sent me the photo below of a pastor in Makassar, Indonesia named Ronald. He is using the Indonesian version of my book “Let’s Go Deeper” to train high school students in their Christian faith. He is also teaching from the book in local house churches. This is so exciting to see! And next year I plan to go to Indonesia to preach and to scout out possible locations for a women’s project there. Please pray for the right doors to open.

I was so blessed in late June to preach at our first official men’s Bold Venture in Canada. Below you can see the group of men who came to Evangel Church in Branford, Ontario, for the three-day retreat. The men were so blessed to experience the weekend. Many of them said they had never been to anything like it. They especially loved the small groups that met four times during the weekend. The men opened up their hearts and received deep ministry. And on the second night, many of them were filled with the Holy Spirit. My close friend Michael Coretti, pastor of Evangel Church, was the host of the weekend. Michael and I met in 2012 and we have ministered together on many occasions.

Below you can see four men who came to Bold Venture Canada from Iglesia Ebenezer, a Hispanic church in Toronto. I was so happy to have Carlos, Diego, Aaron and Luis there with me. They sat on the front row throughout the retreat and soaked everything in. I met them last year when I preached at their church. God is moving in Canada!

In June I did two weddings for two different young men I have mentored. Below you can see Brandon Duck and his wife, Paula, after their wedding in Denver. I have been discipling Brandon since we met more than 20 years ago at a college ministry conference in New York. He met Paula last year at his church in Dallas, and they fell in love. The ceremony was beautiful, and Jesus definitely was glorified that day!

Below you can see Andy Fisher and his wife, Erica. I met Ande when I preached at a church in northern Michigan three years ago. He met Erica while they were students at a Bible college in Minnesota, and then they moved to Wisconsin to prepare for their wedding. Investing in young people is one of the most meaningful things I get to do for the Lord!

Speaking of young people, I got to preach at a children’s camp in my small town of LaGrange, Georgia, in June. My friends Becky Grubbs and Faye Benjamin—who are supporters of The Mordecai Project—asked if I would speak to the children during the last chapel service of the week. That night, after I preached about the Philippian jailer in Acts 16, about 27 kids gave their hearts to Jesus. The next day most of them were baptized in the camp swimming pool! I am so grateful that I had that opportunity to minister to those young ones.

Here is my schedule for July:

June 8-10 / The Fellowship Pastor’s Conference / Dallas, Texas
July 12 / Celebrating my birthday with family!
July 18-20 / Christian Worship Center / Lombard, Illinois
July 25-27 / Casa de Misericordia / Chicago, Illinois
August 7-9 / Men’s Bold Venture / Leesburg, Florida

Thank you again for your investment of prayer and finances. Please agree with us for the supernatural provision needed to continue this work. We are asking the Lord for a miracle gift of $500,000 so that we can complete all of our current overseas projects in Kenya, Uganda, Malawi, Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, El Salvador and Congo!
