Dear Friends:
Last year three donors surprised us by giving large donations. Those unexpected gifts enabled us to complete several overseas projects, including our new women’s empowerment center in Masindi, Uganda, and our new women’s shelters in Tanzania and Malawi. But we have now depleted those reserves and we are in need of more funds to carry on this work. Could you help us?
I am asking the Lord for $500,000 so we can finish all the projects we have started in 12 countries. It seems impossible, and yet I know our God is able to move mountains. I am asking my friends to please believe with us for this financial miracle. Thank you for your love and support!
I am also asking that you please pray for our work in a particular country where Christians are being persecuted. Right now, churches there are facing intense backlash from the religious majority. Pastors are being beaten, and some churches have been burned. Construction of our home for girls there has been stalled because of the backlash. Please agree with us for a miraculous turnaround in this situation.
In spite of the persecution there, we have started an empowerment center for women in a new village. You can see the women (below) who have just completed a six-month tailoring course. These women have found hope in Jesus Christ, as well as valuable skills to enable them to support their families. We are so grateful that God is working in this dark time there.

Meanwhile, the women of the Democratic Republic of Congo are finding hope in spite of the violence and uncertainly in their country. In the photo below you can see a group of women we sponsored to attend a training seminar in nearby Uganda. Some of these women have endured unspeakable trauma because of the rebel invasion that has occurred in the DRC. But they went to Uganda where an American missionary offered prayer and counseling. Now they are taking this healing back to their nation. Please pray for all the women in Goma and Nyiragongo, where we have started women’s empowerment centers.

Below you can see the fruit of our women’s empowerment center in Masindi, Uganda. One lady is holding a pig she is raising. She will eventually sell the pig for a good price to help meet her family’s needs. The lady on the right has been learning how to make clothes so she can start a home business. One of the women in our center has started four successful businesses, and she recently bought land for a farm!

In May I traveled to Reykjavik, Iceland, to lead a men’s conference for Filadelphia Church there. This was my sixth trip to Iceland, so I have made many close friends there. In the photo below you can see Stefan Gudjonsson standing next to me. He is an announcer on Iceland’s largest Christian radio station. After he came to my men’s event two years ago, he was inspired to start a men’s ministry in the capital city. The ministry has been growing, and Stefan and his team have started numerous small groups to provide discipleship and support to men who need prayer and encouragement.

In Iceland, men struggle alone and rarely open up to each other for help. Our event is helping to change that. During the three-day event, the men received healing prayer for many types of trauma including sexual abuse, rejection and addictions. Some of the men who came to the event for the first time were totally transformed because they shared things they had never told anyone. Their countenances were changed by the end of the weekend! I was so blessed to be a part of this. And it was special to have my disciple Alex Latis with me—he came to Iceland from Romania.

Also in May I traveled to Deland, Florida, near Orlando, to speak at Arise Church. I have been ministering at this church for many years, and pastor Antione Ashley (below, on left) is doing an incredible job leading the congregation. The church has grown so much that they are now shifting to two Sunday services. In the photo below you can see Antione with one of the leaders on his ministry team, Robert Gast, along with my grandson, Grady. This is the second time Grady has traveled with me to this church. It is one of his favorites!

Besides doing a revival service and a Sunday service at Arise Church, I spoke at a special seminar on discipleship on Saturday. In the photo below you can see all the people from the church who lead small groups. It is so encouraging to see a local church where so many people are being intentional about making disciples!

Speaking of disciples, I want to brag on my spiritual son, Rodolfo Bermudez, in the photo below (on the far right). He recently moved to Honduras to serve as youth pastor at Comunidad Cristiana, a large church in Tegucigalpa. And now he is investing in his own disciples there. You can see below some of the young men he is mentoring. This is how we multiply the gospel of Jesus—by investing in a few and then empowering them to disciple others!

If you know any men who need a spiritual boost, please encourage them to join us August 7-9 for our next men’s Bold Venture retreat. I am hosting it at a camp in Leesburg, Florida, north of Orlando. Our theme is “Stoke the Fire,” and I know the Holy Spirit is going to encourage us and connect us in a deep way so we can impact others. These events are life-changing! You can register at boldventure.org. (Women’s Bold Venture will be in Chicago November 6-8).
