Dear Friends:
Thank you for praying for our ministry in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Things are a bit quieter there, but danger still lurks as the rebel soldiers remain in Goma and other parts in the east. We are still morning the loss of one of the women we were sheltering. Below you can see my friend Steve Bafunyembaka, a pastor in the city of Bukavu. I preached in his church in 2023. Even amidst the dangers posed by the rebels, the church is growing. Below you can see Steve baptizing a woman in a service a few weeks ago. We are grateful for the brave Christians in the DRC who are boldly sharing their faith during this challenging time.

On Easter weekend in Pakistan, we had our largest outreach ever to the women in that region. We provided food bags, as well as toys and clothes for the children. The light of Jesus is shining bright in that community. And the women are rejoicing that our women’s empowerment center is almost completed. We should be finished with construction in a few months, and then sewing classes will begin there.

The women in the photo below are celebrating at the graduation ceremony of our six-month tailoring school in Kagoma, Uganda. Thanks to the hard work of our directors, Paul and Christine Wandera, these women are prepared to launch their own tailoring businesses.

Below you can see the 48 girls we are sponsoring at Life Mission School in Moi’s Bridge, Kenya. Last month we paid for their school fees as well as toiletries and lodging costs for the next semester. By covering the costs of school for them, we are protecting these girls from sexual violence, forced marriage and female mutilation. Only heaven knows the pain that has been averted because of your generosity. Thank you!

I had a full month of fruitful ministry in April. I was so grateful that I got to return to LifeChange Church in Sioux Falls, South Dakota—a church I have preached at many times. Below you can see me with Pastor Quentin Beard and his wife, Anna. LifeChange Church has been a faithful supporter of The Mordecai Project. During this visit I preached at a three-day Holy Spirit conference, and I spoke at all four Sunday services.

My favorite topic to preach about is the Holy Spirit, and many people were baptized in the Holy Spirit during those three days in Sioux Falls. I also ministered to the staff of the church, and it was a joy to learn that they are about to launch a new campus in a town east of the city.

While I was in Sioux Falls I spent some time with these Slavic guys below, Sergei, Sergey and Arthur. I have known Sergei and Sergey for several years, and I taught Arthur at the Slavic Bible School in Florida two years ago. Slavic Christians are everywhere in the country, including South Dakota!

Also in April I preached at Overflow City Church in Silver Spring, Maryland. This church is led by my buddy Paul Hanfere (below), who I met in 2009 at a ministry school in Pennsylvania. It is always a joy to be with Paul and his wife, Christina. Their church has supported some of our overseas projects, and this year some of the members of the church are going on a mission trip with me to Guatemala.

I did a revival service with the church on a Friday night (below). Overflow is a unique church because most of the members are young adults or college students. The church began with mostly Ethiopians, but now it has become diverse—with members from many nations including Afghanistan.

The people in the photo below are leaders of various ministries at Overflow City Church. It was awesome to see so many women who are stepping into their roles and discovering their spiritual gifts. After the Sunday service, I met with this group and prophesied over all 28 people! I was poured out, but it was a phenomenal day.

Finally, you can see in the photo below my class at the Slavic Missionary Bible School in Jacksonville, Florida. I spoke there for five days, doing four classes a day on leadership, Holy Spirit, missions, discipleship and women in ministry. This was my fifth year teaching at the school. I had 68 students for those five days, and they pulled everything out of me! They range in age from 18-26, and they are very hungry for the things of God. I was so refreshed after being with them.

It was special to have a disciple with me on the trip to Jacksonville. I met Brandon Brecht (below) at a ministry school in Pennsylvania in 2020. He has traveled with me to Congo in the past, so it was special to have him with me again in Jacksonville. Brandon shared with the students his testimony of miraculous deliverance from drug addiction. He models what it looks like to be a disciple of Jesus.

Speaking of discipleship, you can see a young man below named Gordon Hunt who is now using my book “Let’s Go Deeper” in a discipleship group at his home church in Winter Springs, Florida. I met Gordon when I preached at his church in January. If you are feeling called to start a small group to invest in disciples, “Let’s Go Deeper” is a great resource to use because it covers all the foundational truths of the faith. It is available online from any major bookstore, or on my website.

Please pray for me as I travel and preach this month. Here is my schedule:
** May 7-12 / Men’s Conference / Filadelphia Church / Reykjavik, Iceland
** May 16-19 / Arise Church / Deland, Florida
** May 20-31 / Working on my new book
We need your financial support as our work expands. If your church or business would like to become a partner, please contact me. We desperately need a minimum of $100,000 to finish current projects. And I am asking the Lord for a miracle of $500,000 to cover the costs of all current overseas shelters and empowerment centers. The needs are great but we know God is able!
To give to our overseas work, just hit the “Donate” button below and follow the prompts. To give by check, mail it to The Mordecai Project, P.O. Box 2781, LaGrange, GA 30241. We love you and we are so grateful for you!
