Praise Report from Lee Grady

Dear Friends:

About six weeks ago I hit a spiritual wall. I had been praying for provision for all of our overseas projects, and honestly I felt like I was about to faint. I was battling serious discouragement. My faith was weak, and yet somehow I was hanging onto the promises of God. I enlisted some intercessors, and we began praying and fasting. I sensed at the end of the fast that God was orchestrating a “heavenly bank transfer,” so I rested and waited.

You won’t be surprised to know that within a few weeks God had provided half of the $600,000 we have been praying for! It was as if a huge mountain moved! I am still in awe of God’s amazing generosity—as well as the kindness of our donors. My heart is full of gratitude as we send funds to our ministry directors all over the world to complete multiple projects. The name of Jesus is being honored, and many women and girls are finding safety, healing and empowerment. Thank you!

The moral of that story is – when spiritual warfare intensifies, it is a sign that a big breakthrough is on the way!

Below you can see the newest directors in The Mordecai Project family. This is Micho and Steffni Anthony, who live in Bandarawela, Sri Lanka. I met them last year when I traveled to the central part of the country, where women suffer a lot in a predominantly Buddhist area. Steffni has had a burden for some time to help the girl students of this region, because they often drop out of school simply because they have no access to feminine hygiene products.

Below you can see some of the 300 girls in Bandarawela who are receiving help from The Mordecai Project now. We are providing school fees, feminine hygiene, other toiletries and Christian discipleship for these precious girls. Please pray that they will all find Jesus and grow spiritually through this outreach.

Last year we opened our Naomi’s House shelter and empowerment center in Mzuzu, Malawi. Below you can see the women who have just graduated from another semester of tailoring classes there. They are holding outfits that they made in the center. The women who have been trained to make clothes are now starting their own businesses. And we just sent the funds to complete the Naomi’s House kitchen so we can start a baking school. The women in that program will learn to start bakeries in town. Grace Mkamanga, the daughter of our director, Pastor Tony Mkamanga, is leading both schools.

This year we started a second outreach to women in the Democratic Republic of Congo, located in the city of Nyiragongo. You can see in this photo a group of girl students with Pastor Mwema Bertin, our director. We just sent the funds to buy uniforms for a large group of girls—and they will start classes in August. None of these girls would have been able to attend school if it were not for our assistance. Thank you for making this possible!

I had several successful ministry trips in June. Below you can see me with my dear friend Luis Roig, pastor of Casa del Padre church in Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico. Luis has been serving the past two years as a liaison between the governor of Puerto Rico and the churches on the entire island. During my visit last month I ministered to a group of government employees who serve Governor Pedro Pierluisi. We met in the Fortaleza, which is the “White House” of Puerto Rico.

The Lord also opened a special door for me to speak to a large group of inmates at a maximum security prison in the city of Bayamón, Puerto Rico. I was surprised to learn that a vibrant church has emerged inside that prison. They have their own lively worship team as well as ushers and other volunteers. When I preached a message about the prodigal son and the love of his father, the men wept and three of them made first-time decisions to follow Jesus. It was a special day for me because a man who was in prison for murder hugged me after the sermon. It was the first time I have ever hugged a murderer! He told me about his dark past, but Jesus has transformed his life now!

While in Puerto Rico I did a conference with Pastor Luis Roig and his wife, Cynthia, called “Salvemos Puerto Rico”—”Let’s Save Puerto Rico.” The other speaker at the event was the gentleman in the photo below, Erick Kohltoff. He is a radical believer in Jesus who serves on the Supreme Court of Puerto Rico. He is also the first black man to serve on Puerto Rico’s high court. It was such a blessing to hear Judge Kohltoff defend the family and his Christian faith.

While I was at Casa del Padre I also did a youth event at the church, and the young man in the photo below, Jairo, gave his life to Jesus. On the following Sunday, when I spoke at the church’s 16th anniversary, Jairo brought his parents to the service. My greatest joy is reaching the younger generation with the gospel.

I had another chance to reach the younger generation on Father’s Day, when I preached at Freedom Point Church in Carrollton, Georgia. This is a church pastored by a young man I have mentored, Jason White. After my sermon that day, a young man named Tay (below) came to the altar and gave his heart to the Lord for the first time. I love to see all kinds of miracles, but salvation is the greatest miracle of all!

Later in June I went to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, where I taught at Randy Clark’s Global School of Supernatural Ministry. Then I stayed a few extra days in Harrisburg and spoke at Bilingual Christian Church, pastored by my friends Roque and Maggie Santiago. I had not been back to their church since the pandemic, so it was like a reunion. Bilingual Church has been supporting the overseas work of The Mordecai Project for many years, and the Santiagos have traveled with me to Guatemala.

I spoke at a two-day men’s retreat at Bilingual Church. It is always so special to see men open up their hearts and get free from the addictions and shame that have plagued them for years. This miracle of deliverance happened during the Harrisburg retreat. I was especially glad to see how the men of Bilingual are getting serious about discipling younger guys. Some of the men have started small groups and they are using my book “Let’s Go Deeper” to mentor younger believers.

The older I get, the more priority I place on investing in younger leaders. I took these two guys below, Jason Savarese and Danny Villavicincio, with me to Harrisburg. They drove all the way from New Jersey to stay with me, hang out and learn as much as they could. I asked both of them to share testimonies during the sessions, and I know they grew a lot spiritually. I first met them last January when I did a men’s retreat at Life Mission Worship Center near Newark.

Below you can see me with my friend Grant Foster, pastor of Riverside Church in Sebastian, Florida. Grant and his congregation have supported The Mordecai Project for several years, and I spoke at the church for the sixth time in late June. It is churches like Riverside that have kept this ministry going, and I am so grateful.

I am excited to announce that we have broken ground on our women’s empowerment center in Pakistan! In the photo below you can see the first dirt being hauled off to lay the foundations. We have received the funds to complete this project, which will provide discipleship classes as well as vocational training for a growing group of women in a very needy area. Many of the women who will be coming there have been abandoned or abused by their husbands. Please pray that we will have no delays or resistance as we build this facility.

Finally, I wanted you to see the joy on the faces of the women from Katwe, Uganda, on the day that their sewing machines arrived. Just a month ago we finished renovations on an existing building that is now The Mordecai Project’s center in Katwe, in western Uganda near the border with Congo. This is our fifth project in Uganda. The women cheered when classes began! Thank you for making this possible with your donations.

I really covet your prayers, not only for my travels but also for the projects we are trying to fund. Please continue to believe with us for all the needed finances. We are asking the Lord for the remaining $300,000 to complete all the existing projects in 11 countries. I am also asking the Lord for a small building in LaGrange where we can have our offices and a conference room to train our missionary interns. (If your business wants to invest in some real estate, please contact me about this!)
